Eight states in the United States sue to block Nexstar's plan to acquire its competitor Tegna.

On Wednesday evening local time, eight states in the United States jointly filed a lawsuit in California state court to block the proposed acquisition of Tegna by Nexstar for $3.54 billion. The acquisition would make the merged entity the largest broadcast television group in the United States. California Attorney General Rob Bonta said that the proposed merger is illegal and would result in higher cable TV prices and fewer job opportunities.
