On the evening of March 18, Tencent executives responded to the issue of storage chip price increases, stating that the surge in demand for artificial intelligence has not only driven the demand for DRAM and high-bandwidth memory (HBM) but also for CPUs, solid-state drives, mechanical hard drives, and other components. Currently, orders need to be placed several months, even several quarters or years in advance. Suppliers prioritize the largest and most stable customers, such as Tencent Cloud. Smaller cloud providers are now finding it difficult to ensure stable supply chain support. Tencent executives stated that in this situation, the industry may have no choice but to pass on the increased costs to prices. In the past 24 hours, multiple Chinese cloud providers have already raised prices in various aspects.
