Samsung is considering signing three to five-year contracts with customers to alleviate concerns over memory chip shortages.
During this round of prolonged increase in memory prices, Samsung Electronics is considering shifting towards multi-year contracts for memory chips, which may help stabilize supply and alleviate concerns about memory shortages. Samsung Electronics representative director and vice president, Jun Yong-hyun, told shareholders at the company's annual general meeting that the company is considering extending contract terms from the current quarterly or annual agreements to as long as three to five years, as demand for AI memory chips is expected to continue to surge by 2026.
