Strictly regulate the chaos of live streaming e-commerce and launch a series of actions to improve the compliance and quality of online food safety.
In order to further strengthen the network food trading platform and the responsibilities of operators, the State Administration for Market Regulation announced on the 16th that they will deploy a series of actions to improve the compliance and quality of network food safety from now on. The series of actions will focus on resolving three major issues strongly reflected by consumers: firstly, cracking down on irregularities in live streaming e-commerce, urging live streaming platforms, rooms, and hosts to strictly implement the "Regulations on the Supervision and Management of Food Safety Responsibilities for Live E-commerce Operators" implemented since March 20, clarifying responsibilities, implementing a list of prohibited sales, and preventing misleading consumers through "marketing language." Secondly, strict inspection of the qualifications of food operators entering the network, urging platforms to strictly fulfill their obligations for substantial review, preventing food products that have not obtained production and operation permits, using false qualifications or impersonating others from entering the network for sale. Thirdly, punishing false advertising, urging online food operators to truthfully display information such as the origin, ingredients, and functions of food, and preventing the use of inappropriate language such as disease prevention and treatment to deceive consumers. It is reported that during the operation, targeted crackdowns will be carried out on prominent problems such as food sold through live streaming, online food sales, health food, and internet-famous food, strengthening the law enforcement efforts against counterfeit and substandard food products, promoting online trading platforms to jointly sign self-discipline conventions, and enhancing cross-regional and online-offline coordinated supervision.
