The Global Development Institute was established at Zhejiang University.

The Global Development Institute was officially established at Zhejiang University on the 15th. The institute aims to actively promote the implementation of global development initiatives, effectively address the bottlenecks in the global development process, and mobilize various wisdom and strength to promote common development among countries. At the G20 Leaders Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa on November 22, 2025, China proposed the establishment of the Global Development Institute to promote common development among countries. The institute operates as a physical entity, with the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Education, and Zhejiang Provincial Government providing guidance. It will recruit and train mid-to-senior officials from around the world, as well as mid-to-senior executives from leading enterprises, and will provide high-level education, talent cultivation, and advanced academic research at Zhejiang University.
