Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group's Global Market Research Department stated that the measures proposed by the Trump administration to reopen the Strait of Hormuz may not be very helpful. In a research report, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group said: "From Iran's perspective, it is completely reasonable to seek more advantages, including causing more pain to the global and US economies by pushing up oil prices." Additionally, the US Navy has not escorted ships through the strait, "and their openly seeking help has ironically shown us that there may be significant difficulties in doing so." Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group added: "Furthermore, shipping and insurance companies will only be more confident in allowing ships to pass through the strait once they see credible passage of ships without any incidents."
