Fat Dong response to "detection of lutein in eggs": procurement procedures are complete, undergoing third-party reinspection and investigation by market supervision department.
On March 15, Pang Donglai released a statement regarding the "Wang Hai Evaluation" on the detection of lutein in fresh eggs sold by Pang Donglai. The content is as follows:
We take the recent "Wang Hai Evaluation" through various online platforms very seriously. We have immediately set up an investigation team to look into this matter. The progress of the investigation is as follows:
1. Lutein is a natural or synthetic carotenoid that is widely found in algae, fungi, fish and other animals and plants. It can be used as a feed additive, but currently there are no relevant regulations or requirements regarding lutein limits in fresh egg products in the country. The fresh eggs sold in stores are purchased legally through regular channels, with complete purchasing procedures and qualified testing reports. Additionally, Pang Donglai Inspection Center conducts regular sampling inspections of fresh eggs once a week, with the results being publicly displayed in the stores. The quality of the products meets national standards.
2. In order to ensure the quality and safety of the products and protect consumer rights, we have sent the brands of fresh eggs sold in stores to Meirie Testing Technology Co., Ltd., Tongbiao Standard Technology Service Co., Ltd., and Henan Huace Testing Technology Co., Ltd. for comprehensive retesting.
3. Market supervision departments have inspected the compliance of product purchases in stores and conducted sampling inspections of various brands of fresh eggs. Meanwhile, the manufacturers of the brands of fresh eggs are cooperating with local market supervision departments to conduct comprehensive investigations of breeding factories.
Pang Donglai always prioritizes food safety, providing customers with safe, practical, and reliable products to protect their legitimate rights and interests. The "Wang Hai Evaluation" used the standard "Feed Additives Safety Use Specification" to determine that lutein in fresh eggs exceeded the standard, which confuses feed standards with food standards, applies standards incorrectly, lacks legal basis, and has misled the public, causing adverse effects on the normal order of the fresh egg market. The results of the relevant investigations by market supervision departments and third-party retests are still pending. If the final results show that there is an issue with the fresh eggs, we will immediately disclose the results and initiate a recall program. We will also bear the corresponding legal responsibilities in accordance with the law to protect the rights and safety of every customer. If there is no issue, we will resolutely pursue legal action to hold individuals, self-media, and platforms accountable for their legal responsibilities in this incident.
