National procuratorial organs will prosecute more than 7,000 cases of food and drug crimes starting in 2025.
On the eve of International Consumer Rights Day, the Supreme People's Procuratorate released typical cases of prosecution authorities punishing the production and sale of counterfeit goods in accordance with the law, and reported on the work of the national procuratorates in this area in 2025. Data shows that in 2025, procuratorates across the country approved the arrest of 5,745 people involved in 3,593 cases of producing and selling counterfeit goods, and prosecuted 18,376 people in 9,583 cases. Administrative law enforcement agencies recommended 651 people in 615 cases suspected of producing and selling counterfeit goods to be transferred, and oversaw the filing of 255 people in 224 cases by public security authorities. The procuratorial authorities have always maintained a high-pressure situation in cracking down on food and drug safety hazards, effectively safeguarding the safety of the people's food, and in 2025, a total of 9,595 people were prosecuted in 5,026 cases of food crimes and 4,043 people in 2,135 cases of drug crimes.
