According to reports, on the 12th local time, data released by the Secretary of Risk Management in Ecuador showed that consecutive days of heavy rainfall have caused 11 deaths and affected more than 50,000 people, with 6 provinces issuing red alerts. Due to the effects of strong winter rainfall, many provinces in Ecuador have experienced flooding, with more than 30 landslides occurring in just the county of Payango in the southern province of Loja. A large number of farmlands have been submerged and houses damaged. The provinces of Esmeraldas, Los Rios, Pichincha, Canar, Guayas, and Loja have all issued red alerts. The Ecuadorian government is currently transporting relief supplies to the affected areas and assisting local governments in disaster relief efforts.
