Malaysia airlines may have to temporarily suspend some flights if the cost of fuel increases significantly.
Malaysia has stated that if the Middle East conflict leads to a significant increase in fuel costs, airlines may need to temporarily suspend some flights. Malaysian Transport Minister Anthony Loke said in a Facebook post on Thursday evening that aviation fuel accounts for nearly half of airlines' operating costs. He held a meeting with airline management, airport operators, aviation fuel suppliers, and aviation authorities to coordinate measures in response to the US and Israel's war with Iran. He stated that the Malaysian Transport Ministry "will discuss with airports and relevant stakeholders to support local airlines in overcoming this difficult period." Loke said, "Despite the increasingly dire situation, we must ensure that air cargo services for goods such as food continue to operate in the short term, especially with the upcoming celebration of Eid next week."
