Adobe's CEO to step down, new financial report highlights product resilience but faces AI challenges
Software company Adobe announced on Thursday that its long-time CEO Shantanu Narayen will step down after a successor is determined. Following concerns from the outside world about the company's strategic prospects under the impact of artificial intelligence, Adobe's stock price dropped over 7% in after-hours trading after this news was released. Narayen has been CEO of Adobe for 18 years. During this time, he has led the company's flagship software products such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and InDesign to become widely used design tools by creative professionals around the world. In addition, Adobe also reported its quarterly earnings, with total revenue and customer subscription business both achieving double-digit growth, demonstrating the resilience of the market to its product suite. The company expects revenue in the second quarter to be between $6.43 billion and $6.48 billion, while market expectations, as compiled by LSEG, are $6.43 billion. Adobe's first-quarter revenue was $6.4 billion, higher than the market's expected $6.28 billion. Adjusted earnings per share for the company were $6.06, above the market's expected $5.87.
