Senator Warren questions the Trump administration's actions in evacuating American citizens from the Middle East as inadequate.
Senator Elizabeth Warren questioned on Thursday why the US Transportation Command and the State Department did not take more action to help evacuate American citizens stranded in the Middle East amid the outbreak of war with Iran. The Democratic senator from Massachusetts stated during a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing that there may still be tens of thousands of American citizens trapped in the region, and as conflicts spread from Iran to neighboring countries, the Trump administration's response has been too slow. Warren said, "It must be made clear that the Trump administration chose this war. They planned for this war for months, yet they did not develop any plans to protect hundreds of thousands of Americans in the region. There is no excuse for this."
