Meta and Luxottica are facing another lawsuit over AI smart glasses video sharing issue.
Meta Platforms Inc. and French eyewear manufacturer Luxottica of America Inc. are facing a proposed class-action lawsuit. The lawsuit alleges that both companies secretly disclosed videos taken with AI smart glasses to third-party contractors, violating federal and state wiretap laws in the United States. The plaintiffs claim that Meta promised users control over the videos generated by the glasses, but in reality, these videos were sent to contractors for review without the users' knowledge or consent. The two companies used these videos to train their AI systems, with the lawsuit alleging improper profit and violations of multiple laws including wiretap laws and the California Invasion of Privacy Act.
