Analysts at J.P. Morgan said that HSBC and Standard Chartered have the largest exposure to Middle East risks among European banks, with the region accounting for 4% and 12% of the pre-tax profits of these two banks, respectively. Kian Abouhossein's team pointed out in their report that other European banks have limited exposure to the region. Overall, loans provided to companies most vulnerable to rising energy costs make up about 13% of the total loans in the European banking industry. These energy-linked industries include agriculture, forestry, and fishing; manufacturing; construction; transportation and warehousing. In terms of private banking, they believe that wealth flows will increase, with Hong Kong being a relative winner in the long term by serving as a global financial growth center in the future 5-10 years.
