Lotte Card Company fined nearly 10 billion Korean won for user information leak.
The South Korean Personal Information Protection Commission announced on March 12 that Lotte Card, a credit card company, has been fined 96.248 billion Korean won for inadequate protection of users' personal information, which led to the leakage of 450,000 users' identification numbers. The Financial Supervisory Service of South Korea reported to the commission in September last year that personal credit information of Lotte Card users had been leaked. After investigation, the commission confirmed that Lotte Card's online payment system had been hacked, resulting in the leakage of credit information of 2.97 million users, including the identification numbers of 450,000 users.
