Every year, when the Irish representatives visit the White House, they usually bring a bowl of shamrocks. But this year, they brought a $61 billion investment plan. Irish Prime Minister Michel Martin plans to discuss investing tens of billions of dollars in the United States during his annual St. Patrick's Day visit on March 17th. This makes him the latest foreign leader to pledge substantial funds to promote American jobs and manufacturing while visiting the Oval Office. The Irish investments in the US announced on Wednesday include: sustainable paper-based packaging company Smurfit Westrock planning to invest $5 billion over five years, insulation materials and building solutions company Kingspan investing $1 billion, and nutrition company Glanbia investing $100 million.
