Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan suffers its first private equity loss since 2009.
The Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan is undergoing a complete overhaul of its private equity investment strategy after recording its first loss in sixteen years. Following a shrinkage of approximately $10 billion in the value of its private equity holdings in 2025, the fund will shift its focus in this area to three specific sectors: financial services, technology, and services industry. According to its official website, this change means that the fund's private equity department will no longer have dedicated teams for healthcare investments and sustainable energy transition.
