The national average gasoline price in the United States has risen to $3.48 per gallon, with analysts predicting an 80% probability that it will increase to $4 next month.
Earlier on Monday, global oil prices rose to their highest levels since 2022 - pushing gas station gasoline prices up to $3.478 per gallon. At the same time, there is no sign of easing tensions between the United States and Israel towards Iran, with President Donald Trump stating that this is just a "acceptable small price" to destroy Iran's "nuclear threat". GasBuddy's chief petroleum analyst, Patrick DeHaan, warned overnight that there is an 80% probability that the national average gasoline price in the U.S. will rise to $4 per gallon next month, "possibly even sooner". According to tracking data from the American Automobile Association, as of Monday, the national average gasoline price in the U.S. was $3.478 per gallon, a significant increase from $2.997 per gallon a week earlier. In his analysis, DeHaan wrote, "Despite the significant rise in oil prices, gas prices may still continue to rise this week... wholesalers and refiners may implement rare 'day-of' price increases at fuel terminals starting Monday morning." DeHaan predicts that the national average gas price will rise from the current $3.45 to around $3.75 to $3.95 per gallon this week. If it surpasses $4 per gallon, this will be the first time this level has been reached since August 2022.
