Yellow River flood control enters the critical period of ice breakup, and two departments are discussing and deploying flood control work in key areas.
The General Office of the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters and the Ministry of Emergency Management organized a meeting with the meteorological, water resources and other departments on the 6th to analyze and assess the recent situation of ice jam in the Yellow River. They held video conferences with the Emergency Management Department of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the front-line headquarters of the Yellow River ice jam prevention, to study and deploy flood prevention work in key areas. The meeting emphasized the need to prioritize prevention, strengthen monitoring and inspection of riverbanks and levees, closely monitor weather and ice conditions, especially the situation of ice dams and ice blockages, conduct 24-hour continuous monitoring and inspections, focus on key areas such as dangerous sections and culverts, and remove water-blocking floating bridges and construction bridges in accordance with laws and regulations to ensure smooth ice flow in the river. Emergency ice jam release must be carried out in an organized manner, manage the entrance and exit facilities of the emergency flood diversion area, strictly implement the approved emergency flood diversion operation scheduling plan, implement ice jam release measures, and ensure timely, safe and effective utilization.
