According to a report by Southern Metropolis Daily, a consumer from Beijing complained on social media that she found parasite eggs on the fish slices she ate at a well-known Japanese restaurant chain, Sushilang, on March 1st. On March 4th, the Market Supervision Administration of Mentougou District in Beijing issued a situation report stating that in response to the citizen's complaint about finding parasite eggs in the tuna at Sushilang in Chang'an Tianjie Shopping Mall in Mentougou District, they took immediate action to preserve evidence by inspecting the remaining tuna slices in the store and initiating an investigation. The market regulatory department will resolutely protect the legitimate rights and interests of consumers and will rigorously investigate any illegal activities in accordance with the law. Following the announcement, on March 6th, the stock price of Food & Life Companies, the mother company of Sushilang and a publicly listed company in Japan, dropped by nearly 14% at one point, with a final drop of about 7% at the time of writing.
