At the release conference of Hongmeng Intelligent Driving Technology, the CEO of Huawei Intelligent Car Solutions BU, Jin Yuzhi, talked about the accident on a foggy road section in Anhui. He said, "We had a major accident during the Spring Festival. We were driving in the Qiankun intelligent driving assistance mode through an extremely long foggy road section in Anhui." Jin Yuzhi mentioned that in such dense fog, our intelligent driving system had already reduced the speed to 60 kilometers per hour. However, the driver, unable to see clearly, felt safe and increased the speed to over 100 kilometers per hour, continuously stepping on the accelerator pedal and maintaining a speed of 97 kilometers per hour. When the driver's eyes saw a line of stationary vehicles in the dense fog, it was already too late to brake at high speed, resulting in a collision with a string of vehicles. "So, our millimeter-wave radar had actually reached its limit, able to detect up to tens of meters. The speed of the car should have been controlled, but the driver's excessive speeding led to such risks," Jin Yuzhi said.
