Nvidia CEO Huang Renxun: $3 billion investment in OpenAI "may be the last time"
NVIDIA CEO Huang Renxun said on Wednesday at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media, and Telecommunications Conference that with OpenAI preparing to go public, the company's recent $30 billion investment in the AI startup "may be the last time." At the same time, NVIDIA's $10 billion investment in OpenAI's competitor, Anthropic, is also the case. NVIDIA's investment was part of the $110 billion funding round announced by the startup last Friday. The funding round also includes a $5 billion commitment from Amazon and a $3 billion commitment from SoftBank. As part of the agreement, OpenAI will receive 3 billion watts of dedicated inference computing power and 2 billion watts of training computing power on NVIDIA's Vera Rubin system for AI data centers.
