Investment bank Jefferies: Nintendo announces Pokemon game, reflecting its push for Switch 2.
Jefferies analyst Atul Goyal stated in a report that the Nintendo Switch 2 games "Pokmon Winds" and "Pokmon Waves" are scheduled to be released in 2027, which is good news. He wrote that this announcement indicates that the Japanese game developer is solidifying its position by further advancing into the Switch 2 era to maintain platform momentum. Goyal pointed out that the flagship game to be released next year also confirms the executives' view that the second and third years of the product cycle are crucial from a content reservoir perspective. "By staggering the release of heavyweight products, Nintendo has avoided software droughts and ensured the continued popularity of high-margin products." He stated that what the company needs now is a flagship game for the 2026 holiday season, and the announcement can coincide with the release of a movie or be made at a "Nintendo Direct" presentation.
