Report: The price war in the takeaway industry has spread to the catering industry chain, with nearly 70% of catering stores collectively requesting a reduction in prices from upstream suppliers.
LiXin Consulting recently conducted a survey and interviews with over 2,000 catering businesses in 31 provinces across the country. The research results show that 39% of the merchants have started to switch to suppliers with lower raw material prices, and 30% have strengthened bargaining with suppliers. This means that 69% of businesses are affected by price wars and are seeking price reductions from their upstream supply chains to solve cost problems. It is worth noting that among the remaining 31% of merchants, 20% have chosen to increase the proportion of low-cost dishes. This "cost reduction" in supply will also have a new impact on the upstream industrial chain. This set of data shows that the downward pressure on prices is continuously transmitting from merchants to the food supply chain.
