The Trump administration plans to meet with executives of the largest defense contractors in the United States on Friday at the White House to discuss speeding up weapons production, as the Pentagon is struggling to replenish supplies after the strikes against Iran and other recent military actions, five individuals familiar with the plan told the media. Companies including Lockheed Martin and the parent company of Raytheon, as well as other major suppliers, have been invited to the meeting, sources said, requesting anonymity as the discussions are private. The meeting highlights Washington's sense of urgency to strengthen weapons reserves after using a significant amount of ammunition in actions against Iran. Since the Russia-Ukraine conflict in 2022, the United States has consumed billions of dollars worth of weapons stocks, including artillery systems, ammunition, and anti-tank missiles. The missiles used in the conflict with Iran have a longer range than those provided to Kyiv. At least one source said the central focus of this meeting is expected to be urging weapon manufacturers to accelerate action and increase production.
