The Canadian stock market continues to set new record highs at closing.

The S&P/TSX Composite Index in Canada rose by 0.59% to 34541.27 points, breaking the previous closing high of 34501.96 points set on February 26. The small-cap stock index rose by 0.68% to 1471.67 points, reaching a new closing high for the third consecutive trading day. The Mexican stock index fell by 1.09% to 70629.75 points. The Mexican peso dropped by 0.51% against the US dollar to 17.3147 pesos. The So Paulo Stock Exchange index in Brazil rose by 0.11% to 189,000 points, after three consecutive days of retreating from its closing high. The Brazilian real fell by 0.96% against the US dollar to 5.1749 reais. The Turkish lira fell by 0.02% to 43.9497 lira against the US dollar, having dropped to 43.9867 lira at 06:19 Beijing time. The South African rand fell by 1.07% against the US dollar to 16.1088 rand, hitting a daily low of 16.2105 rand at 15:18 after opening lower.
