European major stock indexes closed generally lower.

European Stoxx 600 index fell by 1.65%, the UK's FTSE 100 index fell by 1.28%, Germany's DAX index fell by 2.42%, France's CAC 40 index fell by 2.19%, and Spain's IBEX index fell by 2.64%.
