Eurasian natural gas grab may escalate Middle East situation or trigger natural gas prices explosion.
Analysts from the Dutch international group have stated that disruptions in energy flow in the Middle East could intensify competition for liquefied natural gas supply between Europe and Asia. With approximately 20% of global liquefied natural gas supply at risk, European natural gas prices may face significant upward pressure, especially as European natural gas storage levels fall below 30% at the end of the heating season. Warren Patterson and Ewa Manthey stated, "Although liquefied natural gas export capacity has increased and more capacity will be released in the future, this is not enough to offset potential supply losses in the Persian Gulf region in the short term." Benchmark natural gas TTF contract prices soared 24% to 39.73 euros per megawatt-hour.
