OpenAI signs contract with Pentagon to accelerate the militarization of artificial intelligence in the United States.
On February 28, the American company OpenAI announced that they had reached an agreement with the U.S. Department of Defense to deploy the company's artificial intelligence models on the Pentagon's classified network. Just the day before, another American company had a falling out with the Pentagon due to significant disagreements over the scope of application of artificial intelligence technology.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman posted on the social media platform X, saying that the cooperation with the Pentagon follows the principles that the company adheres to, namely that artificial intelligence must not be used for "massive domestic surveillance" and that the use of force, including autonomous weapons systems, must be human-controlled. He said that the company has established "security safeguards."
