More than 77,000 people have registered as volunteers for donating bodies in Shanghai, with a total of 19,000 cases donated.

On March 1st, Shanghai celebrated the 24th Body Donation Commemoration Day. The event, themed "Life Continues in Dedication," was jointly organized by the Shanghai Red Cross Society, the Shanghai Health Commission, and the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau and kicked off at the Qingpu Fushouyuan Cemetery. The event revealed that by the end of 2025, nearly 77,000 people in the city had volunteered to donate their bodies, with a total of 19,000 donations realized; and 137,000 people had registered as volunteers for organ donation, with 1398 donations made.
