The scale of the online retail market has ranked first in the world for 13 consecutive years, and China's online consumption continues to trend towards improvement and innovation.
The Ministry of Commerce has released data showing that since the 14th Five-Year Plan period, China's digital consumption has expanded and improved in quality, with the overall scale of digital consumption exceeding 23.8 trillion yuan, ranking as the world's largest online retail market for 13 consecutive years. China's online consumption continues to show positive trends, with online retail sales expected to reach 15.97 trillion yuan by 2025, a year-on-year increase of 8.6%, an increase of 1.4 percentage points from the previous year. Among them, the online retail sales of physical goods are expected to reach 13.09 trillion yuan, a growth of 5.2%, driving an increase of 1.3 percentage points in the total retail sales of consumer goods during the same period. New consumption formats and models such as live streaming sales and instant retail are growing rapidly. The live streaming e-commerce industry maintains a good development trend, with live streaming transactions expected to increase by 11.3% in 2025 compared to the previous year, and instant delivery rapidly expanding to better meet consumer demands.
