The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the China Meteorological Administration jointly issued a warning for the risk of farmland waterlogging disasters on February 27th: it is expected that from February 28th to March 2nd, there will be widespread precipitation in the area south of the Yellow River and Huai River, with some areas in Jiangnan and South China experiencing heavy to torrential rain accompanied by scattered thunderstorms. The risk of farmland waterlogging in low-lying areas such as eastern Hunan, southern Jiangxi, northern Fujian, northern Guangdong, and northeastern Guangxi is high, which may lead to weakened growth of rapeseed, premature aging of roots, and loss of soil fertility. It is recommended to dredge ditches in the above-mentioned areas in a timely manner to ensure smooth drainage, prevent field waterlogging, and apply quick-acting fertilizers promptly after the rain, while also strengthening monitoring and control of diseases and pests such as clubroot disease in rapeseed.
