Ministry of Emergency Management: Last year, a total of 1.02 million major accident hazards were identified throughout the year.
The Ministry of Emergency Management held a press conference today to report on the situation of safety production and forest and grassland fire prevention. In terms of safety production, the first central safety production inspection tour was launched nationwide in 2025, and "one province, one form" was used to urge the rectification of hidden dangers. The three-year action plan for addressing the root causes of safety production was comprehensively promoted, leading to the introduction of the Law on the Safety of Hazardous Chemicals, the revision of 14 major accident hazard determination standards, with a total of 67 standards, and the identification of 1.02 million major accident hazards throughout the year, with a rectification rate of 99.7%. In-depth efforts were made to carry out a full-chain safety rectification of urban gas, electric bicycles, hot work operations, building insulation materials, and other related areas, resulting in a reduction of over 80% in the number of deaths in accidents in these fields. Enhanced safety training for key personnel in enterprises was carried out through a combination of central party school main classrooms and regional sub-classrooms, with specialized training provided to over 50,000 metal smelting and travel-related enterprise main responsible persons and regulatory personnel to strengthen awareness of safety red lines. Special rectification efforts were intensified in key industries, with strict implementation of the "eight hard measures" for mine safety resulting in no major accidents in mines for 25 consecutive months. Fire hazard inspections and rectifications were carried out for high-rise buildings and self-built houses, with 32 working groups conducting undercover inspections. Coverage checks for major hazardous sources of dangerous chemicals were strengthened, leading to the investigation of over 7,900 cases of illegal oil refilling. The development and application of the "Eagle Eye Guardian" warning system for emergency avoidance in road traffic was carried out to ensure the safety of public travel. Through a series of practical measures, the number of production safety accidents and deaths nationwide decreased by 8.7% and 7% respectively, with the number of accidents falling below 20,000 for the first time, and the number of major accidents being controlled to single digits for two consecutive years, with no particularly serious accidents occurring in 2025.
