At the beginning of this year, China once again expanded the "circle of friends" for visa-free entry for foreigners, allowing Canadians and Britons with ordinary passports to transit without a visa for up to 30 days. As the "first stop" for visa-free entry into China, Shanghai has been attracting more and more foreign patients in recent years with high-quality medical services, and the number of people coming to seek medical treatment continues to rise. According to data from the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission, the number of foreign patients treated in public hospitals in the city is expected to reach 73,200 by 2025, up over 8% from 67,600 in 2024. It is reported that Shanghai has successively launched international medical pilot projects for both private and public hospitals in 2020 and 2023, and the volume of services continues to grow.
