Mexico announced a major blow to drug trafficking groups in the country, capturing a top leader.
On February 26th local time, the Mexican Public Security Department announced another major blow to the "Jalisco New Generation" drug trafficking group, with one of its branch leaders, Isaac Moreno Romero, being captured. This branch was active in the state of Tlaxcala in central Mexico, and its main criminal activities were related to kidnapping, extortion, murder, and illegal drug trafficking. The Mexican Public Security Department stated that the capture of the drug trafficking group leader was made possible thanks to intelligence sharing and coordinated actions between various Mexican agencies, once again dealing a significant blow to the drug trafficking group. Previously, on the 22nd, the leader of the "Jalisco New Generation" drug trafficking group, Nemesio Oseguera, was killed in a military operation.
