The 2026 version of the national food safety standard for pesticide residue limits will be officially implemented starting from March 1st.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and two other departments recently jointly released the "National Standard for Food Safety - Maximum Residue Limits of Pesticides in Food," which will take effect on March 1, 2026. The new standard sets maximum residue limits for 10,749 items of 585 pesticides such as 2,4-D in food. The implementation of the new standard will provide stronger support for guiding scientific drug use in agricultural production, enhancing the guarantee level of food safety for agricultural products in China, and promoting international trade.
