American lawmakers demand that Britain report on ordering Apple to unlock iPhones.
Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee Jim Jordan and Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee Brian Mast on Wednesday requested the British government to inform them about their directive to Apple to create a backdoor for encrypted data, in order to better understand their actions. The two lawmakers had warned last year that such directives could lead to encrypted data being exploited by cybercriminals and authoritarian governments. Having previously criticized the EU's actions against large tech companies, Jordan and Mast stated that the public should know the truth about this matter.
