For 40 consecutive days, record-breaking rainfall has caused flooding in multiple areas of France.
Recently, France has been hit by heavy rainfall and floods in many areas, causing urban flooding in multiple cities. On the 24th, in Santes, Charente-Maritime, a coastal city in western France, firefighters used small boats to assist residents trapped by the floods. The French meteorological department issued a bulletin on the 23rd stating that France has experienced continuous rainfall for 40 days since mid-January, setting a record for the longest "continuous rainfall days" since observations began in 1959. The precipitation has caused flooding in many areas of France where the soil is already saturated. As the weather becomes relatively dry and precipitation significantly decreases this week, this rare period of continuous rainfall will gradually come to an end. However, the meteorological department reported that currently 58 rivers in 45 provinces are at various levels of alert, with two rivers still under red alert.
