On February 24, the Hunan Province Highway Network Operation Monitoring and Command Center released data: During the 9-day Spring Festival holiday in 2026, the total traffic volume of the province's highways reached 54.99 million vehicles, an increase of 20.16% compared to the same period in 2025. The total traffic volume, peak traffic volume, and cross-provincial traffic volume of the road network all set new historical records. The data from the Hunan Province Highway Network Operation Monitoring and Command Center shows that the peak holiday traffic volume in Hunan's highway network occurred on the sixth day of the Lunar New Year. The daily traffic volume at the entrances and exits reached 8.486 million vehicles, which is 3.5 times the usual volume, an 18.6% increase from the historical peak of 7.15 million vehicles on the sixth day of the Lunar New Year in 2023, setting a new record for single-day traffic volume on Hunan's highways. Hunan is located in the central inland area and currently has 31 inter-provincial highway passages. According to statistics, the total cross-provincial traffic volume on Hunan's highways during the Spring Festival holiday was 9.527 million vehicles, a 15.78% increase compared to the same period last year. Among them, 4.98 million vehicles left Hunan, 4.547 million vehicles entered Hunan, and the peak cross-provincial traffic volume reached 1.85 million vehicles, also setting a new record.
