Supreme People's Procuratorate: A high incidence of copyright infringement cases involving cultural and creative products, well-known IPs such as "Nezha" and "Boonie Bears" have been infringed upon.
On February 24th, Liu Taizong, the deputy director of the Intellectual Property Prosecution Department of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, stated that in recent years, many cultural and creative products have been popular in the cultural market, however, the issue of copyright infringement also troubles the industry's development. Liu Taizong introduced that the procuratorial organs focus on the protection of intellectual property rights of key works in key areas, such as famous IP, historical relics, old brands, and intangible cultural heritage, and enhance the protection of cultural and creative products. From January to November 2025, procuratorial organs have prosecuted a total of 64 cases of intellectual property rights infringement involving cultural and creative products, including 20 cases related to "Nezha" and 13 cases related to "Pao Pao Mar". In a copyright infringement case handled by the procuratorial organs in Dongyang, Zhejiang, the defendant built an illegal online platform to broadcast pirated movies, such as "Nezha: The Devil Child's Adventure in the Sea" and "Feng Shen Part II: War of the West Qi", to profit from the Chinese New Year's hot movies, involving over 130,000 pirated films. The procuratorial organs filed charges of copyright infringement, and the defendant was sentenced to imprisonment and fined.
