The Mexican drug lord nicknamed "El Mencho" was killed by the Mexican military in Jalisco state on February 22, triggering retaliation from drug cartels and violent riots in multiple locations across Mexico. Drone footage from Guadalajara, the second largest city in Mexico and the capital of Jalisco state, shows multiple vehicles being set on fire, with thick smoke covering the area and major roads paralyzed. There are also reports of armed attackers targeting the international airport in Guadalajara.
