Dutch International: Trump will focus on industry tariffs after being thwarted by the Supreme Court.
Dutch international economists Carsten Brzeski and Julian Geib wrote in a report to clients that after the Supreme Court ruled global tariffs illegal, Europe should now be prepared for the United States to impose more targeted trade tariffs on individual industries. The court ruled that tariffs imposed under emergency powers are illegal, a rejection of President Trump's flagship tariff policy. However, the Dutch International Group said that tariffs applicable to individual industries such as automobiles and pharmaceuticals are not subject to these powers. The Dutch International Group said that automotive parts and chemicals could be the next targets. "Europe should not be mistaken," the Dutch International Group said. "This ruling will not bring any relief."
