The Ministry of Culture and Tourism releases the first batch of typical cases of compulsory consumption issues in the tourism market in 2026.
During the 2026 Spring Festival holiday, the demand for cultural and tourism activities among the people was released. In order to maintain a good holiday atmosphere, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism recently publicized 13 typical cases of outbound tourists being subjected to forced consumption and "brainwashing" shopping, tour guides accepting kickbacks, and travel agencies organizing tourists to participate in illegal activities. These cases include: the case of low-priced elderly tour groups being abandoned, the case of low-priced "insurance groups" forcing tourists to consume, the case of arranging for tourists to be "brainwashed" and sold to overseas, the case of not consulting with tourists to arrange shopping activities, the case of tour guides accepting commissions from overseas reception agencies, the case of not arranging tour guides and arbitrarily adding shopping itineraries, the case of organizing outbound tours without obtaining operating permits, the case of illegally transferring operating permits, the case of not informing the destination reception agencies, the case of deceiving passports in the name of tourism, the case of organizing tours to areas outside the outbound tourist destination, the case of product introductions containing gambling content, and the case of not reporting instances of unauthorized departure from the tour.
