Indian "coal tycoon" Adani plans to invest billions of dollars in green AI data centers.
Indian energy giant Adani Group announced on February 17 that it plans to invest $100 billion by 2035 to build data centers powered by renewable energy and able to support artificial intelligence, with the goal of creating the world's largest integrated data center platform. The group stated that this investment will help India gain a more advantageous position in global artificial intelligence competition, and is expected to build an artificial intelligence infrastructure ecosystem worth around $250 billion in India in the next decade. Adani Group founder Gautam Adani stated in a declaration, "The world is ushering in an unprecedented intelligence revolution, the impact of which will surpass any previous industrial revolution." Adani Group stated that its vision has been supported by Google's strategic partnership. Google's parent company, Alphabet, previously announced plans to invest $15 billion in the southern region of India over the next five years to build an artificial intelligence data center hub.
