On February 17th, it was learned from the People's Bank of China that on the eve of the Chinese New Year in 2026, UnionPay and NetsUnion processed a total of 4.931 billion payment transactions, an increase of 21.64% from the previous year's Chinese New Year eve. Among them, from 23:50 on New Year's Eve to 0:20 on New Year's Day was the peak period for red envelope distribution, with the peak number of online payments reaching 144,700 transactions per second, a year-on-year increase of 7.18%, setting a new record.
