Ford Motor Company is now focusing on a new universal electric vehicle platform (UEV) developed from scratch by a "special project team" located in California. The first product will be a mid-sized electric pickup truck priced at around $30,000 with the goal of achieving profitability from the start. "The cost of electric vehicles is still dropping significantly, and to achieve this, we can only rely on innovation and system-level optimization to ultimately create the products that consumers want," said Ford's Alan Clarke. He is in charge of the special team in Long Beach, which includes senior engineers from Tesla.
