The New South Wales police said the incident took place in the Merrylands area, about 20 kilometers west of the city center of Sydney, where a man attacked multiple people with a knife, leading to the death of one person on the spot. The other two injured individuals were taken to the hospital and are currently in serious condition. The attacker fled after the incident. The police later arrested a man near the scene of the crime.
