Chris Beauchamp of IG stated in a report that the recent sharp sell-off of cryptocurrencies has diminished, but the U.S. holiday means thin liquidity on Monday. "The relative calm in the cryptocurrency market represents a significant change compared to the crazy selling we've seen in recent months, but it's not enough to start a recovery on its own." He mentioned that with cautious risk appetite, precious metals continue to rise, putting pressure on cryptocurrencies. He said that the "crypto winter" of 2025/26 requires a revival in prices and market interest to sustain the recovery. Data from the London Stock Exchange Group showed that Bitcoin rose 0.9% to $69,498 after an earlier decline, while Ethereum rose 1.7% to $1,989. On February 6, Bitcoin hit a 16-month low of $60,008 and Ethereum hit a nine-month low of $1,751.
