Contemporary Amperex Technology, Luoyang Molybdenum, and Zijin Mining Group are strengthening in Hong Kong and will be included in the Hang Seng Index.

Boosted by the news that they will be included in the Hang Seng Index, the stock prices of electric vehicle battery manufacturer CATL, mining company Luoyang Molybdenum, and jeweler Lao Pu Gold have risen. CATL's stock in Hong Kong increased by 2.2%; Luoyang Molybdenum rose by 3.7%; and Lao Pu Gold went up by 4.5%. Car retailer China Yongda Auto will be removed from the Hang Seng Index, causing its stock price to drop by 2.5%. These adjustments will take effect on March 9th. After the adjustments, the number of constituents in the Hang Seng Index will increase from 88 to 90. Beike and Horizon Robotics will be included in the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index; CR Beer and Mengniu Dairy will be removed. According to a report from Goldman Sachs strategist Alvin So and others, this rebalancing could result in nearly $8 billion of passive fund flows. The internet/media and entertainment, capital goods, and metals and mining sectors are expected to see the most passive buying, while banks, energy, and technology hardware and semiconductor sectors may see the largest outflows of funds.
