According to previous public information from Musk, after February 14th, Tesla will officially stop offering the option to purchase FSD functionality upfront in the United States, and instead will switch to a subscription model. This means that the current $8,000 pre-purchase option will be permanently cancelled. In the future, FSD will only be available through subscription, with a monthly cost of $99 or an annual cost of $999. In Australia and New Zealand, Tesla has announced that it will stop offering the one-time purchase service for FSD starting on March 31, 2026. For Chinese owners, Tesla offers two types of driving assistance services that do not align with the US FSD policy. Currently, the service packages are still the enhanced driving assistance for 32,000 yuan and the intelligent driving assistance for 64,000 yuan, and they can still be purchased upfront. However, the related FSD services in China have limited use and are more like futures products.
